The Tri-Rivers School of Nursing was recently ranked first in Ohio by RegisteredNursing.org.
Eighty-four schools in Ohio were analyzed and 30 qualified to be ranked, according to Dr. Emeline Kelly, director of the Health & Public Safety program at the vocational school. Kelly said RegisteredNursing.Org ranked nursing schools by analyzing current and historical National Council Examination (NCLEX-RN) pass rates. NCLEX-RN is the nationwide examination for licensing of nurses.
According to Tri-Rivers, the 2016 graduates of Tri-Rivers LPN to RN program achieved 100 percent passage of the NCLEX-RN. In 2014, Tri-Rivers nursing program was the only RN program in Ohio with more than 10 graduates to achieve a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-RN. In 2015, the program achieved 95.6 percent.
Kelly said the goal of the Tri-Rivers LPN to RN program at Tri-Rivers is two-fold. “First of all, we want our graduates to successfully obtain licensure as a registered nurse. Secondly, our students also receive education that focuses on the professional environment and current practice issues including evidenced-based practice and patient experience, in order to make them successful employees for today’s health care agencies.”
“We also place importance on continuing education by instructing our students that it is an expectation that they will obtain further education, minimally a baccalaureate degree,” she said.
Kelly attributed the high ranking to her team working one-on-one with students. “We look at each individual student and work hard to support their goals of becoming a healthcare professional,” Kelly said. “Each student is different.”
